Hello families, I'm a newborn care specialist and postpartum doula with 16 years experience. It would be an honor to help welcome your new baby home!
"Ruth has been our night nanny who we highly recommend and love very much. She has been taking care of our baby overnight when she was just a few weeks old. Having a newborn especially for us was particularly hard with postpartum blues, anxiety and a rapid return to work and a newborn who woke up every 30-45 minutes. Ruth has been a life saver and takes care of our baby like her very own. She is professional, very knowledgeable, loving, caring and she genuinely cares for baby and parents well-being. The two of them get to spend some time in the morning when baby wakes up and she focuses on baby development such as tummy time etc. They have a beautiful relationship. She was also gently able to help our little one into an improved sleeping rhythm as well (we were not keen on sleep 'training· but Ruth is trained is all aspects of sleep training but we opted for gently supporting ours along their sleep journey at night which she did beautifully). She truly loves her career as a newborn specialist and will be very invested in your baby's care and development including being a sounding board for all your parent questions. She is highly recommended!"
"I was expecting twins and to be honest I was so scared. As a single mom I knew I needed to find some support, fast! I found everything I needed (and all the things I didn’t know I needed) when Ruth came to save the night. She welcomed my babies with open arms and I just knew they were going to be in good hands. Ruth was able to observe them to figure out when they would need to eat. She would have all steps prepared ahead of time to make for an easy transition from awake to feed, diaper change, burp and then back to sleep. Ruth was able to stagger their feeds so that they were back to back but still on the same schedule. This helped me so much during the day as she taught me how to also do this, and so much more. Ruth recorded all night time care in an app and sent examples of feeding and sleeping schedules to help me when she wasn’t there. She answered all my questions, whether about safety, milestones, development, diapers, colic or the many random questions I came up with when second guessing myself. She had answers to make me feel sane and confident. I can’t imagine how I would have survived such a huge opening journey to parenthood without Ruth’s support! Im thrilled to say my babies are still sleeping great and on the same schedule. I truly thank you, Ruth!"
"Ruth started working for our family during the pandemic. With a brand new baby and the challenges of working from home, we were feeling very overwhelmed. Ruth immediately brought a calming presence to us parents and our baby felt it as well. We could see how he would drink his whole bottle of milk with her as opposed to only drinking one ounce. We never heard him cry during diaper change which we were so amazed. She knew just what to do when he started experiencing reflux and was able to offer advice with home remedies according to our families preference for a natural approach. By two months age she had our baby sleeping through the night. Ruth ensured we all got a great nights rest which enabled me to be ready for the day and my husband was able to continue working. She was the perfect fit for our parenting style and our baby."
As the second eldest of six, I was 7 years old when one of my younger sisters was born. I got hands-on experience when I started getting up at night to help feed her bottles, change her diaper and settle her back to sleep. I would bring my mom water and snacks to make the nights and days easier for her.
It was then I realized my passion for caring for newborns and their families during such a unique, special time. This passion continued to grow and flourish into my full time career, from my first job to this day.
As your dedicated doula, I am here to support your new baby and family any way I can during such an important, special time. My goal is to create smooth transitions from day to night and night to day, so that everyone can get as much rest as possible. I believe in nurturing care and empathy, making your baby and family feel valued and respected.
I will provide warmth and patience as I get to know your baby’s cues, having everything ready for their next feeding and diaper change ahead of time so that their needs are met with ease. I genuinely enjoy my time spent interacting with the babies and care for them as if they were my own.
If you need emotional support, such as a listening ear or reassurance, I will gladly sit next to you on the couch with a gentle presence. I will set out water and snacks for nourishment and sustainment, to help you start your day or get you through the night. I am very kind towards parents, siblings, pets and everyone in the home. I love supporting my families!
I live in Pacifica with my fíance and our kitty. I enjoy visiting with family and spending time in nature on the weekends. My hobbies are camping, collecting Star Wars memorabilia, and visiting National Parks.
I can provide a resume with references. Please reach out through my contact form if I may be a good fit for your overnight doula needs. I look forward to hearing from you!
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
